Lundy Island

One of my favourite places in the world is Lundy island, a 3-mile long lump of granite in the Bristol channel just off the Devon coast. It’s not a place many people have heard of, yet alone visited, but I’ve been fortunate to have been there three times now.

My most recent visit was earlier this year, with my family. We stayed in one of the restored Landmark Trust buildings there – Government House – which has an amazing view. One of the best things about Lundy Island is that there is very little to do there, which means that little things like sitting and watching the sea become simple pleasures.

I took a couple of small Fuji mirrorless cameras with me, and really enjoyed photographing the island. I usually struggle with beautiful landscapes – I prefer run-down urban decay – but in this case I think my relaxed state of mind helped my photography.
